Kata Tjuta National Park, Right smack in the center of Australia, Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) stands just 30km west of Uluru (Ayers Rock), the star attraction of the famed Outback. Though not as readily identifiable as “The Big Rock,” the huge red domes of the Olgas are equally impressive and especially captivating in the magical fiery glow of a late afternoon sun. Taking our place among a throng of visitors, we watched in awe as the rocks seemed to light up from within, grateful that the best shows in life are still free. LS |
Kata Tjuta National Park, The carpark at Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) was filled with camper vans covered in desert sand and dead flies. In a matter of seconds, red hues took hold of the empowered rocks before a crowd of transfixed travelers. It was not, however, until after the sun disappeared below the holy land that the sky exploded with warlike prowess, forcing us to pull over on a dusty, dark shoulder for a better view. The awesomeness was blinding, powerful and brilliant, one that no photo can fully capture. SBR |
