Stuart Highway,
South Australia-Northern Territory, Australia

Our car couldn’t handle the Outback’s harsh dirt roads, so the interminable Stuart Highway, running dead straight from Adelaide to Darwin, was a familiar sight through our dusty windshield during the few weeks we spent in Australia’s interior. We loved to hate “Old Stuey” for the hours of tedious driving it required, but in truth, we highly appreciated the stunning landscapes and colorful characters it led us to. A modern intrusion into an ancient land, the eerily deserted pavement provides a striking contrast to the golden scrub, red earth
and blue skies of the Outback.

Flinders Ranges National Park,
South Australia, Australia

Adelaide to Darwin: over 4,000 kilometers of driving. The endless plains, the hovering eagles, the brilliant reds of the land, the barreling road trains that push our little car off the road. Avoiding a variety of hopping marsupials, swerving away from an emu's fat ass, praying that we have enough gas to make it to the next roadhouse. A million miles of breathtaking nothingness while grooving to "Soul Shakedown" on repeat. The only place in the world you will find a
kangaroo tail nailed to a post.
