Muang Ngoi, Laos These boys were preoccupied with a book of matches, furtively hidden between their little feet. In taking their photo, I managed to distract them for a brief moment and thus delay them the chance to light the bridge on fire. Once they got a look at their inquisitive expressions on the LCD screen of my digital camera, their interest in the matches quickly faded. In a blink of the eye, they transformed into ninjas, dicing and splicing their hands through the foggy mountain air, destroying make-believe enemies. SBR |
Muang Ngoi, Laos The boys were mesmerized by the images they saw of themselves on Scott's digital camera, and who can blame them? They lived in a river town with the bare necessities and not much else. I knew my SLR camera just wasn't interesting enough to them in the face of higher technology. So rather than compete for their attention, I positioned myself in a way that allowed me to capture their rapture from a unique perspective. LS |
